Ludus de Nato Infante Mirificus - Plot

Witches are sitting in a rock cave and are attempting in vain to cast bad weather spells and bans for the birth of Christ which has been foretold by the stars. Shepherds are trudging through deep snow, espy a man and woman on a donkey and also meet up with other shepherds. All are able to take refuge in a »bad weather shelter« and fall asleep.
In a dream, two of the shepherds experience the procession of the three Magi and the birth in the stable. They set off to search for this stable and the child.

In a new change of scene, a snowfield illuminated by the light of the moon can be seen and children with lighted candles are walking across in procession. They are responding to the host of angels and praise the flowers, the light and the miracle.
The witches appear once more in their cave, but retreat and will wait until they believe that their hour has come: the hour of the crucifixion.[1]
