Promotion of educational workThe Carl Orff Foundation promotes the dissemination of the Orff Schulwerk throughout the world and thereby contributes to the financing of Schulwerk courses in national Orff Schulwerk associations. – Applications for support can only be processed by Schulwerk associations. The Foundation thereby encourages the intercultural and music educational exchange of experiences and provides support for training and advanced training, in particular for teachers of music, dance and social education through participation in courses, workshops and symposia. Promotion of artistic worksThe Carl Orff Foundation promotes the study of Carl Orff’s musical oeuvre through intensive communication with the music publishing firm ›››Verlag Schott Music in Mainz and discussion with persons involved with theatre, orchestras, conductors, composers and numerous institutions and figures from the public music world. The worldwide best-known and most famous work by Carl Orff is “Carmina Burana”, the most frequently performed work for choir and orchestra in the whole world. It is also the Foundation’s duty to promote Carl Orff’s lesser known but equally impressive and significant stage works.
In cooperation with the market town Dießen, the Carl Orff Foundation has undertaken legal responsibility for the ›››Carl Orff-Museum in Dießen. This museum houses an exhibition of the life and works of Carl Orff and gives an insight into the person and composer Carl Orff. Orff instruments are provided as an invitation to make music and to acquire a comprehension of the fundamental concepts of the Orff Schulwerk through play. The Carl Orff Foundation provides support for the festival ›››Orff-in-Andechs, which takes place annually from June to August and which has developed under the directorship of Prof. Dr. Hellmuth Matiasek between 1998 and 2008 into a location in which the “Bavarian World Theatre” of Carl Orff is nurtured in exemplary fashion. From 2008, Marcus Everding will undertake the direction of the Orff in Andechs festival. Since its establishment, the Carl Orff Foundation has also provided support for a number of further artistic projects Promotion of the academic study of the oeuvre of Carl OrffSince the establishment of the ›››Orff Centre in Munich in 1990, there has been close cooperation concerning the academic study of Carl Orff’s works. The Orff Centre in Munich receives support from the Carl Orff Foundation for its research and documentation projects. This especially includes support for publication projects, the conservation of stock and the opportunity to purchase further items for the stock and the PhD scholarship. Memberships / PartnersThe Carl Orff Foundation is a member of the ›››Association of German Foundations and in individual cases also cooperates with other foundations and institutions such as the ›››association Refugio iMunich, the Elisabeth Gast Foundation and the ›››Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Cultural Affairs.
